Boost Your Android Phone's Battery With Greenify

No more envy of your friends' iPhone which never become slow and battery hungry after lots of apps installed. With Greenify, your Android device can also run almost as smooth and lasting as the first day you have it!
Greenify help you identify and put the bad behaving apps into hibernation when you are not using them, stop them from battery leeching, memory hogging and stealthy running, in an elegant and unique way! They could do nothing without your explicit launch, while still have full functionality when running in foreground. Like what iOS apps act! - oasisfeng

Greenify help you identify and put the misbehaving apps into hibernation when you are not using them, to stop them from lagging your device and leeching the battery, in an unique way! They can do nothing without explicit launch by you or other apps, while still preserving full functionality when running in foreground, similar to iOS apps!

It's important to note that Greenify is not a task killer, it doesn't freeze your app like AppQuarantine. The apps that Greenify hibernates are still usable if you want to switch to them, and you can still pass data to them as though they were running. When you switch back to them, it's like you never left.

Enhance Your Movie/Media Experience With This Setup

hunger-games-catching-fire

Today, I'll guide you on how to set-up SVP to work with MPC-HC. I guarantee you that you'll see a big difference after setting this up. But first, I will need you to follow the EXACT settings that I will be giving you, except for those settings that is Specifications Dependent (i.e. GPU and CPU are factors).

To prevent errors, kindly check this out first:

The Setup

Step 1: Download all of the prerequisite software
Step 2: Installing the Software
  • Install Microsoft Visual C++
  • For MadVR, make a folder in your Program Files x86 named MadVR, and extract the files in there. Afterwards, install the renderer by using the included batch file. Do the same with XYSubFilter (make a directory, and use the batch file to install it).
  • Install everything that's included in FFDShow (except for that setup page that shows all of the formats to choose from, leave that one alone unless you actually need to enable some formats). Do the same for ReClock, Haali, and MPC-HC.
  • SVP Core: On the "select components" screen, click expert on change interface type.
Attention: Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Users
You will need to run MPC-HC and SVP as administrator in order to get them to work right. If not, then some of the filters may not work the way as intended, some options in MPC-HC will be greyed out, and SVP won't work. You can do either of two things.

a. Right click MPC-HC.exe (Program Files x86\MPC-HC), properties, click the run as administrator box. Do the same for SVPMgr.exe (Program Files x86\SVP).
b. Disable UAC by typing uac in search (Change user account control settings), bringing the slider all the way to the bottom, and disabling LUA by doing THIS registry tweak. Note that although you get Windows 7-like security freedom, your metro apps won't work since UAC is disabled.

I prefer b because Windows 8's overprotective security gets in the way of a lot of stuff I run, and having LUA disabled makes things much easier and less frustrating since it affects every application installed. Your choice.

Step 3: Configuring MPC-HC (Picture Guide for more user friendly config)

Open up MPC-HC, go to view-> options (follow each config from the pics)

mpc-hc-settings

mpc-hc-settings
  • On the first dropdown box, choose MadVR
  • On the Audio Render, choose ReClock Audio Renderer

mpc-hc-settings
right click in the Source Filters list and select "disable all filters". Do this for Transform as well.
mpc-hc-settings
  • Now, go down to the audio switcher, and uncheck "enable built in audio switcher"
mpc-hc-settings
  • Now, to to the external filters, and remove anything that's in there. I don't know if there's stuff in there already, but if there is, remove it.
  • Now that you have a clean slate, we can start adding the filters.
  • Click add filter, and choose these: FFDShow Raw Video, LAV Video, FFDShow Audio, XYSubFilter, and LAV Splitter. Make sure they are listed in that order.
  • Now, for every one, highlight each one, and click on the "prefer" radio button.
mpc-hc-settings
  • Go to options, and click on Playback.
  • Under Open Settings, uncheck "Auto-Load Subtitles"
  • Apply and close MPC-HC

Step 4: Configuring ReClock (Picture Guide for more user friendly config)

  • Go to Reclock in the start menu, and click on Configure ReClock.
  • On the first two dropdown boxes, use DirectSound.
  • On the next dropdown box, choose your device.

  • For the PCM Output section, select 48kHz, 24-bit, check the "16bit interger for 16bit sources" box, and best sinc interpolation.
  • For the Sound pre-buffer section, set the latency as low as you can. I find 60ms pretty good. You may have to go higher because some devices can't handle a low latency. The smaller the number is, the faster the audio will sync, and the faster you will be able to seek, but if you make it too low, you may get a clipping sound.
  • Press OK, and close ReClock

Step 5: Configuring SVP (Picture Guide for more user friendly config)

  • Right-click the SVP icon in the taskbar, and go to video profiles->reset to default. Afterwards, press OK.
  • Right-click again and go to settings->Load Automatically with Windows. In the same settings section, click Show OSD Messages. It's enabled by default, and I like it removed.
  • Right-click again and set turn off on seek to 1sec. Make sure GPU Acceleration is enabled.

Step 5: Configuring MadVR (Picture Guide for more user friendly config)

  • Play a video and pause it
  • Right click the MadVR icon in the taskbar, and go to the rendering section

  • Go to exclusive mode settings, and uncheck the "show seek bar" checkbox. Although it keeps the player in exclusive mode with the MadVR seekbar, it doesn't show the chapters, which I find more important. Your choice. You just have to deal with the screen flickering out of Exclusive Mode.
  • Go to smooth motion, enable it, and click always. You won't notice smooth motion when SVP is running most of the time, but for the few odd files out there, smooth video helps out.

Uninstall All the Bloatwares on your PC with Decrap

Remove bloatware with Decrap

decrap-logoDecrap allows you to easily and safely remove all of the bloatware that comes pre-installed by the manufacturer on a new Windows PC. It can take hours or even days to get all the pre-installed software removed from your new computer, but with this little freeware utility you can completely uninstall all the unneeded software without any user input!
Pre-installed bloatware like this is often deeply integrated into the Windows operating system. Trying to remove it by simply deleting the installation folders not only means you may not get rid of it all, but can also result in other important programs not functioning properly.
- Decrap.org

Seriously?! No one likes bloatware, especially on a new laptop. Let Decrap do the uninstalling for you.

When you first run it, Decrap will generate a list of all the software that you may want to uninstall. Here, you can deselect an item if you'd like to keep it, and otherwise you can blow it all away. Once the app starts running, it will start the uninstaller from each app it removes and confirm all dialog boxes that pop up. Surf the net or just do anything you want while it removes bloatware from your PC.
